Ronald Rudentof is an archeologist whose life has been monotonous and boring. Son of the famous and adventurous archeologist Alexei Rudentof, Ron is usually compared to him, which makes him angry since Alexei is just an absent father figure that was never home for him. Ron is well educated, smart and shy with women. His lack of social personality is completed by his friendship with Ben, a friend he has known since a very young age, who is more of a brother in Ron’s mind. With really few real friends around, Ron seeks for a change in his uneventful life. He does get his wish when a major change for the unexpected comes after Alexei’s death, the day he receives a very old journal from his father. |

Benjamin Johnson didn’t have a very good start in life. Being raised in a poor family, he was bound to survive by any means he could find, and through these rough times he developed the unbridled charisma of a charlatan, replying on his appearance and attitude to get him into the best situations when life kept handing him the worst. Ronald met him during their schooling years and helped Ben achieve moderate grades despite that Ben’s heart just wasn’t in it. In trade, Ben was Ronald’s first childhood friend and protected him in turn from dangers schoolhouse bullies only tried to emulate. Ronald’s father, Alexei, had never condoned this friendship and so the two children only met in more social scenes, far from home. Even with this arrangement, Ben and Ron never stopped being together. Right now Ben is working as a successful real-estate agent, but spends most of his money in luxuries and gifts for girls. Ben is a popular womanizer that wants to enjoy his freedom before settling down with just one girl. He worries about Ron’s problem to start relationships with women, and always tries to help him being more social. But for Ron’s disgrace, Ben is easily distracted from his task by beautiful women. |

Alexandria Fahr is a real metaphorical “bag of surprises”, that if you’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting, you would not soon forget. As another friend from Ron’s schooling, Alex has been Ron’s conduit to the strange and esoteric flavors of life that you just don’t bump into on any other day. She fancies collections of rare and taboo artifacts and is a seemingly endless repository of useless information. Alex tends to remain aloof and in a secret little world no one else could fathom or understand. She’s known to daydream at the strangest and most inappropriate times, which makes her a real challenge to talk to. But despite her tendency to keep her mind in the clouds, she has a strange insight that keeps others coming to her for advice, almost as if she has a bird’s-eye-view into other’s problems. |

Marianne Duval is a good-natured, intelligent, and beautiful girl. She is eloquent, cultured, and appreciative of the arts, which has led to the obvious consequence of her grades earning her distinction in her major of modern art at Neon City’s University. Her life is decorated with her own achievements, yet she still encounters life’s great hardships as ends seem to never meet on their own. She commutes great distances from a distant apartment to work and school and this sucks most of her social life into the dream-like abyss of fantasy vacations she hopes she will one day escape to. Her exposure to Ron is welcome as her only outlet to sensitive male companionship, which she hasn’t had a lot of over her days of struggling to overcome grades and bills. |
